Introduction:
Several weeks ago, my cowriters and me began looking into how college students view their nutritional health. We created a survey and asked twenty Rowan University students to answer the questions. We also conducted interviews with two students and we, the researchers, even looked at our own eating habits. We decided to focus our research solely on Rowan University students' nutritional health.
Through our surveys, interviews and other research methods, we discovered the following:
1. Most Rowan Students think their nutritional health is not good.
2. Most Rowan students think their nutritional health is better than most other students.
(Even the students who rated their own nutritional health very low, still thought they ate better than most other students)
3. Commuter students seem to have better nutritional habits than students who live on campus.
(The survey results suggested that eating home cooked meals led to a healther eating lifestyle than eating Rowan's food options.)
4. Rowan students do not feel that there are enough nutritional options on campus.
5. Rowan students do not think that Rowan does all it can to help students with their nutritional health.
The point of these findings is that students can't take action to eat healthier if they aren't informed.
Through this research project, we hope to enlighten our fellow college students about the inadequacy of Rowan's food options and that it is enabling us to lead unhealthy lifestyles. We also wish to provide the university with ways that they can help us lead healthy lifestyles while living on campus. My cowriters and me plan to convince students by showing our surveys and interviews collected from actual Rowan University students. We hope that once students know this information, they will use it to their advantage.
